1. Our Origin Story: Born in the Mountains of Yemen (2004)

Asal Bee began as a passion project rooted deep in the mountains of Yemen. In 2004, our founder launched a small honey shop under the name Jantan in Sana’a, driven by a lifelong fascination with bees and their remarkable process—from gathering nectar to building hives and producing honey.

"Since I was very young, I was captivated by honey. I would go into the mountains of my hometown and watch the bees feed on flower nectar, build hives, and produce honey. These early experiences were beautiful, even though I was just a child."

This curiosity led to deep study: reading books and articles on beekeeping and visiting beekeepers to observe how honey was harvested. Eventually, he launched a small personal apiary to apply what he had learned. It was a challenging but enjoyable beginning.

At first, honey was shared as gifts with family and friends. People began to experience the incredible benefits and healing properties of the honey and insisted he expand and open a store. So in 2004, the first shop was born, marking the real beginning of the journey.

"That moment—when I opened my first shop—was the most meaningful to me. I started seeing the fruits of my effort and hard work."

The early challenges were many: dealing with bee diseases, weather fluctuations affecting honey production, and learning to care for the bees properly. But with time and persistence, he found solutions, built a strong reputation, and began to see increasing demand both locally and internationally.

"Today, I am proud of what I’ve achieved and remain committed to improving my production and delivering the best quality Yemeni honey to our customers."

2. Expanding Horizons: U.S. Distribution Begins (2016)

By 2016, the demand for rare, raw honeys—especially those from Yemen—was growing in North America. Seeing this opportunity, the Jantan team established a base in Michigan to import and distribute premium Yemeni and artisanal honeys across the U.S. and Canada.

The brand evolved from a simple honey supplier into a trusted name known for quality and authenticity, supplying wellness shops, cultural stores, and natural markets throughout the region.

3. A New Chapter: First Retail Store in Dearborn (2021)

In 2021, Asal Bee opened its first branded storefront in Dearborn, Michigan. Building on the strength of its wholesale success, the company transitioned into direct customer engagement.

This location wasn’t just a shop—it was an experience. Decorated in a way that reflected the warmth and hospitality of Yemeni culture, the store welcomed visitors who came not only for honey but for the atmosphere, tradition, and personal touch.

4. The Evolution: From Honey Shop to Asal Bee Café (2024–Today)

Asal Bee Café marks a bold new chapter. Expanding beyond honey jars, we created a full café experience where honey inspires everything: from waffles and herbal teas to honey-laced smoothies and authentic Arabic coffee.

This evolution reflects our vision: to blend heritage with innovation. Each café visit is a chance to taste not just products—but legacy, healing, and hospitality in every sip and bite.
